Scale Computing Reports Record Revenue through Q3 2011
Horizontal scale-out storage provider reports record revenue YTD compared to same time in 2010
Scale Computing, a developer and manufacturer of intelligent, scale-out storage solutions tailored to the virtualization and archiving needs of the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME), today announced company results for its third quarter, ending September 30, 2011 (Q3’11).
“In Q3, we found strong traction in the education, healthcare and manufacturing sectors,” said Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder, Scale Computing. “The benefits of an affordable, horizontal scale-out storage solution is key to these mid-market companies as they are looking to implement virtualization projects. Our growing partner, customer and repeat customer base, combined with the upcoming launch of ICOS 3.0 and further development of the Scale Computing Alliance Program, signal continued, strong growth on the horizon.”
Scale continues to experience tremendous growth, with record revenues in 2011 through the 9-month period ending 3Q11. “The benefits of our horizontally scalable solutions are made evident by the fact that 40 percent of our Q3 revenue came from repeat customers. High satisfaction with our award-winning products and tech support drive our success here,” said Ready.

Continued development of ICOS 3.0
During Q3, Scale continued developing the company’s Intelligent Clustered Operating System (ICOS™), which enables every Scale Computing storage cluster to scale performance alongside capacity. The newest version, ICOS 3.0, will feature a new, advanced user interface and performance monitoring amongst other major additions. ICOS 3.0 is expected to be in beta during Q4, with an expected release in 2012.
Development of Executive Team
Dave Demlow was promoted to vice president of product management. Dave Demlow joined Scale Computing in 2010 and is responsible for all aspects of Product Management, Product Marketing and Technical Publications. Dave brings over 20 years of storage and software product management experience having previously served as CTO and VP of Product Management for Double-Take Software and leading their product, technology and M&A strategy.
Key Award Wins
In August 2011, Scale Computing was selected by Everything Channel as a 2011 CRN Emerging Technology Vendor. In addition, in September 2011, Scale Computing was named to VentureWire’s FASTech 50 by Dow Jones for the second consecutive year. This award is given to the top 50 most innovative startups, as determined by the editors of VentureWire and an advisory board of top, tech–focused VCs.
Scale Computing Alliance Program
Scale Computing’s Alliance Program was created this quarter to deliver high-value joint solutions to customers that compliment horizontal scale-out storage offerings. This program will continue to develop and expand in Q4’11 as the company continues to fulfill the needs and demands of customers and assists them in overcoming IT and storage challenges.
Virtualization Continues to Drive Scale’s Growth
Of Scale’s current customer base, 80 percent of customers use Scale’s storage solutions for virtualization implementations. Successful virtualization implementations include Clabber Girl, the City of Terre Haute, Morgan County Schools, Mays Chemical and GEO Foundation.
