Jeff Ready

Chief Executive Officer, Board Member, Scale Computing

Jeff has served as CEO of Scale since 2008.  Prior to founding Scale, Jeff was co-founder and CEO of Corvigo where he oversaw the company from startup, through funding, to acquisition. After the acquisition, Jeff served as VP of Marketing at Tumbleweed. Prior to Corvigo, Jeff was co-founder, COO and VP of Marketing at Radiate.  Jeff holds a degree in Computer Science from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, the highest ranked university in the country that specializes in undergraduate engineering, math, and science degrees.

Scott Loughmiller

Chief Product Officer, Board Member, Scale Computing

Scott is a founder and Chief Product Officer of Scale, where he is responsible for the overall technology and product strategy. Previously, Scott was co-founder and CTO of Corvigo where he headed R&D, leading to the development of Intent-Based Filtering Technology. Prior to Corvigo, Scott served as VP of Engineering at Radiate. In both cases Scott worked beyond his technical role to significantly contribute to the overall business model, strategy and success of the companies. Scott holds a degree in Computer Science from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

 

Rick Thau

Board Member

Rick is a consultant and advisor to emerging growth companies. From 1990 to 1999, Rick was founder and CEO of FullTime Software (formerly Qualix Group). Prior to that he was CEO of Micro-MRP. Rick has also held Vice President and General Management positions in various computer graphics, information appliance, and information services companies.

 

Don Aquilano

Board Member, Allos Ventures

Don Aquilano co-founded Allos as a Managing Partner in early 2010. Don joined Blue Chip Venture Company as a Managing Director in 2004 after collaborating with the Firm for five years as Managing Director of Gazelle TechVentures. Don leads Blue Chip’s Software & Services industry practice and has worked with several Blue Chip IV portfolio companies.

 

Bob O’Brien

Investor, CID Capital

Bob O’Brien is a Managing Director of CID Capital. He has over 20 years of senior executive experience in the high-technology industry, 15 of them in Silicon Valley. His areas of expertise include software, semiconductors, imaging and video display, and related hardware technology.

 

David Mann

Investor, Spring Mill Venture Partners

David is a co-founder and managing partner of Spring Mill Venture Partners. Prior to Spring Mill, David worked with ServiceMaster Ventures, a corporate venture group. Additionally, David served as assistant to the CEO of INVESCO, a leading investment management firm, while earning his M.B.A.

 

Bill Gurley

Board Member, Benchmark Capital

Bill Gurley joined Benchmark Capital in 1999 after spending two years as a partner with Hummer Winblad Venture Partners.

Before entering the venture capital business, Bill spent four years on Wall Street as a top-ranked research analyst, including three years at CS First Boston focusing on personal computer hardware and software. His research coverage included such companies as Dell, Compaq, and Microsoft, and he was the lead analyst on the Amazon IPO. In both 1995 and 1996, Bill was a member of the Institutional Investor All-American Research Team.

Prior to his investment career, Bill was a design engineer at Compaq Computer, where he worked on products such as the 486/50 and Compaq’s first multi-processor server. Before Compaq, he served in the technical marketing group of Advanced Micro Devices’ embedded processor division.

 

Rob Theis

Board Member, Scale Venture Partners

Rob Theis invests in technology infrastructure and applications companies at ScaleVP. He currently serves on the boards of BrightRoll, HubSpot, Scale Computing and Tapulous (Acq: Disney). Prior to joining ScaleVP, Rob was General Partner with DCM (Doll Capital Management), and invested in leading companies such as Jaspersoft, NeoPath Networks (Acq: Cisco), PGP Corporation (Acq: Symantec), Roamware, VanceInfo (NYSE: VIT), and Wikinvest.

Rob’s investing career builds on his global experiences driving successes with technology startups’ sales, marketing and partnership. As Executive Vice President for New Era of Networks (NEON), Rob grew the company to $200Million in revenues, and was instrumental in leading NEON through a successful IPO. Prior to NEON, Rob spent 10 years in executive roles at Sun Microsystems where he drove growth in a series of new strategic initiatives, including Sun’s success in the Financial Services Industry sector. Rob’s previous experience includes launching Silicon Graphics’ initial workstations and selling timesharing services for McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing).

Rob was awarded the Honors Scholarship at the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a B.A. degree in economics. In Rob’s spare time, he is a Sheriff cliff/mountain rescue specialist, rescue diver, and serves on the boards of University of Pittsburgh AA and Royal Bank of Canada investment committee.
