A Visionary Leader in Global Technology and Innovation
It is with heavy hearts that we remember Johan Pellicaan—an extraordinary leader, innovator, and mentor whose impact on the international technology landscape will continue to echo for years to come. He passed on on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

Johan’s professional journey was nothing short of remarkable. As a senior executive, Johan was known not only for his strategic insight and business acumen but also for his genuine passion for building and scaling technology ventures across the globe. His ability to translate complex innovation into practical, scalable solutions made him a rare force in the tech industry.
At the time of his passing, Johan had recently taken medical leave from his position of Managing Director & Vice President EMEA and Strategic Accounts at Scale Computing, where for over nine years he championed the adoption of edge and datacenter computing across Europe and beyond. He was a passionate advocate for modern IT infrastructure, making platforms more scalable, cost-efficient, and responsive to real-world needs.
Before joining Scale Computing, Johan served as Managing Director & Vice President International at Springpath Inc., which was later acquired by Cisco. He played a pivotal role in positioning the company as a critical player in hyperconverged infrastructure, contributing to its strategic growth and eventual acquisition.
His earlier leadership roles at Seagate Technology, where he was Director of Global Business Incubation and VP EMEA, and at Microsoft, where he was Global Director for the Microsoft/SAP joint venture Duet, are a testament to his global perspective and his strength in building cross-border collaborations. He also held senior roles at EVault (acquired by Seagate, then Carbonite) and ProClarity, where he led international operations until its acquisition by Microsoft.
Johan’s career spanned more than four decades, marked by a string of successful exits, strategic partnerships, and market-defining innovations. He had an unmatched ability to foresee how technology would evolve and how it could be harnessed to improve businesses and lives. A 2005 Gulf News interview he shared years later captures this visionary mindset—predicting the convergence of online and physical retail experiences long before it became the industry standard.
Beyond his titles and accolades, Johan was an advisor to numerous tech startups and a trusted mentor to many. He brought not only experience but also humility, clarity, and an infectious curiosity that inspired those around him.
Johan Pellicaan’s legacy is one of fearless innovation, cross-cultural leadership, and a relentless drive to make technology serve people better. He will be deeply missed by colleagues, collaborators, and the countless lives he touched around the world.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and professional community. May he rest in peace.
