For managed service providers, infrastructure decisions aren’t just technical—they’re strategic. When costs rise, complexity increases, or customers stop seeing value, it’s time to rethink the foundation. That’s exactly where DTS Systeme GmbH, a managed service provider and security software developer serving midsize organizations across Europe, found itself as changes in the virtualization market began to impact both pricing and usability for customers.
DTS customers were experiencing real challenges with the VMware solution they had before, says Oliver Meissner, Solution Engineer/Projects Team at DTS. In addition to the price increase that came with the Broadcom takeover, there was the issue of perceived value. Customers were paying for features they simply weren’t using, he explains.
DTS needed an alternative that would meet enterprise requirements without enterprise-level cost or complexity. That search led them to Scale Computing.
Discovering a Simpler, More Cost-Effective Approach
Jannick Uffmann, Strategy Manager at DTS, first encountered Scale Computing through his own research.
“I researched Scale Computing really thoroughly online,” he explains, noting that what stood out was the number of positive reports and how high customer satisfaction with Scale Computing was compared to other vendors.
Like many teams evaluating a new platform, DTS approached cautiously at first. But that skepticism faded quickly once they began working hands-on with the SC//Platform™ edge computing solution.
“We were a bit skeptical at first because it was a new solution,” Meissner says, explaining that once they were able to work with it, they quickly saw the performance improvements. In fact, two advantages stood out immediately: pricing and simplicity.
“[With Scale Computing], you have one license for everything—and everything is included,” Meissner explains. “And you don’t have a complex environment. With Scale, you need half an hour or an hour to get people up and ready.”
A Strong Fit for Midmarket Customers
For DTS customers—many of them midsize organizations—the impact was immediate. Scale Computing “has good performance and also good pricing—everything a midsize company needs,” says Uffmann.
Performance and pricing proved to be a powerful combination. Customer reactions were overwhelmingly positive, and interest grew quickly.
“We’re talking about 100 to 150 pre-sales calls in a few months,” Meissner notes.
The addition of SC//Fleet Manager™ edge orchestration software further strengthened the offering, giving customers confidence in both performance and manageability.
Support That Feels Like a Partnership
While pricing and simplicity opened the door, DTS says support is what truly sets Scale Computing apart.
“The most valuable thing is the support team,” says Uffmann. “We had one technician and one account manager dedicated to us, and they helped with every problem.”
That responsiveness made a difference during migrations and day-to-day operations.
“We can call them at any point in time,” Meissner adds. “They always pick up and are like ‘Yeah, we can do it’.”
Driving Growth for DTS and Its Customers
The impact of adopting Scale Computing went beyond infrastructure—it changed momentum across DTS’s cloud and services teams.
“The solution had a big impact on our cloud team,” says Uffmann. Customers are really interested, he notes, and that has generated a lot of leads.
For Meissner, the value ultimately comes down to partnership.
“What makes Scale Computing valuable is the connection to customers,” he says. “Scale is really customer-oriented and helps us with every kind of migration and workload. We’re really happy we chose Scale Computing.”
For DTS, Scale Computing didn’t just replace a virtualization platform—it enabled a simpler, more affordable, and more customer-centric way forward.
